When a vacation is not a vacation
October 21st, 2008 by Dayle at 4:27 pmWent to Indiana to see the family and friends last week. Got there Saturday, 10/11 and returned Monday, 10/20. I took a long trip so I could make sure I had lots of time to see everyone.
I spent most of my time worrying about my Grandma. She recently had quad bypass surgery and has had problems since. I was trying to do my part to help with things. I visited her each day in the rehab facility. I looked for assisted living places to move her into. We dont think she will be able to return to her house - at least not anytime soon. Needless to say Granny is NOT happy about all of this. She wants to go home and does not really comprehend why she cant. That makes her unsettled and anxious. We try to explain the reasons, but she is not accepting it. I would think this would be a hard thing to deal with. I cant imagine having to rely on someone after being so independant for 76 years. I just hope this gets better for her soon. We are all stressed out about it, but I know she is having the harder time.
Saw the babies. They are SO cute. They’re 9 months old now and on the move. They like to scream when they are happy. Just look at each other and scream - really loud. Stop for a while...look at each other again and scream some more. Must be some odd twin language they are speaking. Jamison is the same length as Elyse, but he is 2 lbs. heavier! He has the cutest little chunk legs and loves to be tickled.
I did not get to meet up with my friend L.G. in Chicago like I had planned. I really wanted to see her this time since she is due to have her baby in November. Just did not work out. I miss my pal! I will see her and the baby next time.
All in all it was a good trip even if it was stressful. I got to see everyone again and visit. And I am glad that I was able to visit with my Granny and “help” some.
